During COVID, I was a viral business podcaster whose life was secretly falling apart. Rock bottom led me to EMDR therapy, where I uncovered repressed memories of escaping a child trafficking ring.
I was shattered, but then I found a path forward: just do the next scary thing.
To my utter surprise, that path led me to the Statehouse, where I built movements that won civil rights for millions. Here's how it all started...
Sept. 8th, 2021

"Those wounds were so deep ... I was broken," Graham said. "Trauma echoes throughout your life until you begin to heal."
Sept. 8th, 2021

"Experts have repeatedly said that Ohio's laws regarding child sexual abuse survivors are some of the worst in the nation... 'Ohio persists in the dark ages...'"
Oct. 7th, 2021

“When organizations have enabled... serial rapists, we have to hold them accountable or it opens the door for more of these types of people to come into our society,” Graham said.
July 6, 2022

"No bill has made it as far as the Scout’s Honor Law in Ohio, in part because of its vast network of survivors at the helm of advocate Chris Graham, a childhood survivor of priest sexual abuse who helped author the bill."
Dec. 1st, 2022

"In Ohio, the current statute of limitation means Boy Scout survivors would only get 30% to 45% of what they might be eligible to receive."
Sept. 27th, 2023

"Survivors of Boy Scouts in Ohio should get the same opportunities for justice as survivors from any other state. Period. That's what The Scout's Honor Law does." Graham said.
Sept. 28th, 2023

Senator Kunze remarked that it was the sustained advocacy of survivors – specifically Chris Graham – that put "The Scout's Honor Law" before the Senate.
March 21, 2024

The bill that would allow Alabamians who suffered sexual abuse while in the Boys Scouts of America to press claims against the organization.
April 24th, 2024

“There are coming of age moments, and in Ohio, this is one of them,” Graham said. “Removing the spousal exemption for rape, recognizing that men and women are equal and that women are not the property of men... it's a really big deal.”

Ohio survivors of Boy Scout sexual abuse push for change to statute of limitations
“I...felt in my bones, I should be fighting for them..."

For survivors like Graham, the hope is that this law will deter predators and protect future generations.

I'm not in a political party.
I don't have a law degree.
I was not elected.
I was not hired.
I was not invited.
I'm just a "citizen lobbyist" who gets shit done with modern tools.
My first business was being a singer-songwriter. Touring, selling records, playing with bands. Then I became a music producer and audio mastering engineer.
About ten years in, after reading a few stacks of business books and working with thousands of independent artists and major labels like Sony, Warner, and Disney, a friend and I launched the first business podcast for the recording industry.
When it went viral, people started asking for business coaching. Before I knew it, I was helping Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony winners grow their businesses and themselves. I felt like I was finally one of the cool kids.
In 2020, things got exceptionally weird.
Covid shut everything down, and my life and mental health fell apart. Luckily, right before my breakdown, I had built the first agentic AI in the audio industry. "Bounce Butler" was a hit. Recording studios around the world still use him every day. The income my little AI brought in was just enough to keep the wheels on while I hit rock bottom, was hospitalized, diagnosed with PTSD, and started EMDR therapy.
EMDR was the hardest thing I have ever done. I finally met myself, and on the other side of some healing, I found the recipe for post-traumatic growth: just do the next scary thing.
One of the most meaningful moments of my journey was sitting beside my sons in the Ohio Senate before a unanimous vote to pass The Scout's Honor Law. A few senators stood and spoke about a priest survivor who fought for Ohio's scout survivors and won. My sons watched as their dad's crazy idea clawed back justice for 1,911 survivors in Ohio.
Then we started hearing from across the country. Other states were passing The Scout's Honor Law too. Alabama, Indiana, and Iowa quickly followed Ohio's lead. 5,000+ survivors now had a path to justice. Hundreds of millions of dollars in settlements.
Today I'm building movements for employee owners, survivors, and award-winning creatives. Home is a log cabin in the woods near Granville, Ohio. I've been part of building movements that changed the world, but the best thing I've ever done is show my kids that no matter how dark your path is, life is always full of possibilities.
Just do the next scary thing.
If you're curious about how to make a law, I made you a funny video:

The Governor signs our bill to finally outlaw spousal rape.

I'm also a photography nerd, so I've usually got a camera with me when I'm out there helping people "do the next scary thing". Most of the time I like to use weird vintage lenses and I only shoot in black and white.

After childhood abuse at the hands of his Scout Master, Mujaddid did 36 years in prison, including 4 years in the real "Shawshank Redemption".

Mujaddid became a very effective citizen lobbyist and legislators were amazed at his story and courage to stand up for Boy Scout Survivors.

David just spoke out as a Boy Scout Survivor for the first time. He emailed me so many times before I finally agreed to take him to the statehouse and teach him how to be a citizen lobbyist.

Years ago, my life was helping independent artist release great sounding records. Paisha hired me back then to "master" her first record. Fast forward, now we're trying to get her people's land back.

One of the most beautiful things about the statehouse is people bring their stories here. It's really beautiful once you get to know the community and see folks using their voice.

Coaching clients isn't much different from coaching legislators & citizen lobbyists. When confronted with obstacles ahead, the path forward is the same: "do the next scary thing."

Rep. Mohamed (left) looks on as we celebrate passing the first "Scout's Honor Law" in Ohio. MikeTaylor (right) and I had no idea Alabama, Indiana & Iowa would copy our law. What an adventure!

They cookin' up trouble, again. The Statehouse is full of interesting people. From left to right, I work with all of them.

At the Ohio Statehouse, I’m not allowed past those doors. Members only. The "lobby" outside of the Ohio House of Reps is great place to invite legislators into deeper waters .

Signed, sealed & delivered. Ohio's "Spousal Rape Exemption" is finally dead. Almost 40 years of back room deals prevented Ohio from joining the rest of the modern world. Rep's Hillier & Miranda crossing the final finish line, bi-partisan style with Gov. DeWine.

Rep Jarrells speaks at a Juneteenth press conference about The Randolph Freed People. We traveled to Western Ohio to see the land that was stolen right after these slaves found their freedom in 1844.

Before EMDR therapy, I had a lot to process. So I made art. I took photos. I played guitar. I worked in recording studios. I stayed up all night building custom AI's. I kept my mind busy until eventually, I broke.
On the other side of being hospitalized, going to EMDR therapy, hundreds of yoga classes, thousands of hours of meditation, and a whole lot of art therapy, something magical happened... I filed a police report, and they found a witness... but the case was then closed because Ohio has some of the worst laws and some of the shortest "Statute of Limitation" in the developed world for survivors of our worst crimes.
I started showing up at the Ohio Statehouse. Loitering in the lobby during votes. Making friends with legislators. Showing them the custom AI's I've built that are smarter than any statehouse lobbyist.
I started brining my camera to the Statehouse. I'd take a black and white photo of a legislator in action, make a large photo print on museum quality paper, then go back to the Statehouse and give the legislator my art.

Rep Jessica Miranda. The "bad ass suburban mom" & my bestie. We've got very different perspectives, and an amazing friendship!
One day, Coleen said something to me that gave me goosebumps: "Chris, you're a Citizen Lobbyist. You should teach people how you do it."
So I went to work. I brought film makers to the Statehouse. I brought musicians to the Statehouse.
I brought survivors, artists, activists & advocates to the Statehouse.
I taught them how to meet and collaborate with law makers. They started getting their own legislation rolling.
As I'd show a legilsator their photo, I'd usually crack a few dad-jokes and give them a bit of coaching;
"I think it's time to redefine your legacy."
"Let's make this justice reform law together."
"You were made for this."
I was doing advocacy with art, and it was working!
I started running all over the Statehouse to manage all the bills I had in motion. I had become a new kind of Citizen Lobbyist.
When I was a kid struggling with a secret,
I usually watched the evening news on NBC4 in Columbus. Colleen Marshall sat at that news desk for decades. When I came forward, she became a dear friend.
We worked on story after story together, helping survivors come forward and speak out. Boy Scout Survivors. Doctor Survivors. Coach Survivors.

Essie Baird (left) goes public about the childhood abuse of her track coach & 6th grade teacher. Colleen Marshall interviews.

Mujaddid Muhammad, a Boy Scout survivor walks into the Ohio Statehouse to testify for our bill.

Boy Scout survivor Mike Taylor celebrates after the House unanimously passed our bill. His state Rep. Ismail Mohamed takes it the moment.

Making a documentary at the Ohio Statehouse and getting justice for The Randolph Freed People.
The most common question I get is "have you written the book yet?"
I'm looking for an "author coach" to help me develop my writing habits.
I'd like to write a self-help book about how "post traumatic growth" is the key to unlocking your potential.
I have a knack for solving impossible problems with creative, out-side-the-box thinking. Most of my coaching and consulting clients work in, or around recording studios, but all are working hard to leverage AI and build a person brand that will still valuable in a few years.
I'm somewhere between a business & life coach. I help people find shortcuts to explosive, wholistic growth by leveraging personal brand strategy and the power of AI-driven automated systems.

Here’s the truth: most people have no idea how powerful a purpose-built AI can be.
Off-the-shelf AI is fine for quick tasks. But a finely tuned, bespoke AI system—crafted around your goals, workflows, and voice—is on another level.
It’s the ultimate multiplier. The ultimate shortcut.
An AI that can think like you. Write like you. Work like you.

If you're interested in having me speak to your team, organization, employees, students or at your event, I would love to explore that with you.
I spent over a decade mastering records for thousands of artists. I still take on a few projects a month, but mostly only albums and only if I'm in love with the artist's mission. If you're on this page because you've been following my journey since the old days... welcome!

I am always interested in meeting creative, mission-driven people who want to change the world.
Maybe you have a completely insane idea and you need someone to help you pull it off.
Maybe you're a philanthropist who wants to make a bigger impact.
Maybe you're running for office.
Maybe you've decided to become a Citizen Lobbyist too.
I'd love to help, but I also have to preface our conversation with this;
Working with me is either very expensive, or free.
When I have the space, I often take on new social reform projects, but because of the number of opportunities to help so many people, I have to be careful not to let "good impact" become the enemy of "great impact".
It is the most difficult part of my current chapter of life.
Shoot your shot though!
All of my best projects started when someone like you reached out to me with a unique problem.

yoinks.

run.

rumble. rumble.

a status quo.
I've been producing a documentary at the Ohio Statehouse with a brilliant documentary film director named Ian Cook. The story centers around "The Randolph Freed People". These 382 freed slaves had their land was stolen from them in 1844 shortly after they won their freedom.
A descendent of the Randolph Feed People named Paisha Thomas is trying to get justice. We've been going to the statehouse and I've been coaching her. Want to learn more and get updates? Sign up for my newsletter!

I’ve been fighting for change since I came forward on the front page of the Columbus Dispatch on September 8, 2021. Each victory revealed five more battles worth fighting — but like so many of us, I didn’t always have the bandwidth or resources to take them all on.
That’s why I’m launching a new kind of arts-first advocacy initiative.
My vision is to collaborate with and empower our most influential voices — musicians, comedians, actors, artists, podcasters, and filmmakers — to help them wield their most authentic voice for the causes they care about the most.
Over the past several years, I’ve been fighting in the arena, learning how to turn stories into strategies and voices into victories. Now, I’m ready to share that experience more widely — with our creative leaders who have the power to shape culture and produce change.
If this resonates with you, I’d love to connect.
